Neiman Marcus Cake

Well, over the years, I've mixed and matched 33 versions of Neiman Marcus Barr. So, basically, I went a third of the way through the third set of "100s" without even trying :).

Some people call these bars Gooey Butter Bars or Gooey Butter Cakes, but here in the Dallas area (home to Major Neiman Marcus), we often refer to them as Neiman Marcus Bars because they're so rich ;).

I didn't think it was right for me to finish 100 Bar and not share the original with you. I mixed and matched Roasted Almonds, Salted Caramel Chocolate, Cinnamon Seasoning, Irish Cream, Egg Nog, and Peanut Butter... Well you got the point, I gave you 33 copies and today, I'm going to give you the original.

° 1 box of yellow cake mix
° 4 eggs
° 1/2 cup melted butter
° 1 packet icing sugar (about 4 cups)
° 8 ounce package cream cheese, soft

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease (I'm using pam) a 9" x 13" baking dish.

In a bowl, combine cake mix, 2 eggs, and melted butter. It spreads to the bottom of the pan as a "crust" layer.

In another bowl, beat the powdered sugar, remaining 2 eggs, and cream cheese until smooth with an electric mixer. Spread over crust mixture.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, until edges are browned and centered (it will still be slightly wobbly in the center).

Cool on counter for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 2 hours, up to 2 days.

These delicious bars are gooey, rich, and perfect for any occasion.

Enjoy !
