Ingredients list:
Popcorn popcorn, I used roughly 7 quarts.
brown sugar envelope; You will need two cups.
2 soft sticks of unsalted butter.
Dark corn syrup, use ½ cup.
1 tablespoon of molasses.
1 teaspoon kosher salt.
1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
Optional addition 2 cups salted peanuts.
Methods :
Step 1:
First, add the popcorn to a large skillet and distribute it evenly. Remove any unpressed kernels by picking through the mixture.
Step 2:
Brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, molasses, and salt should be mixed in a 2-quart pan with a thick bottom that can be baked in the oven. Stirring , bring mix to a boil on medium heat.
Step 3:
When a candy thermometer reaches 250 degrees Fahrenheit, or when a small amount of the mixture drops into ice water and forms hard balls, it usually takes about 12 to 14 minutes.
The fourth step:
When you add baking soda to the caramel, it will start to bubble and become a light brown color.
Fifth step:
Pour the caramel over the popcorn in the large grill pan, being careful not to splash it. Keep stirring with a wooden spoon until the popcorn is well coated. Make sure not to touch the caramel as it is really hot.
Sixth step:
Place the pan in a preheated oven at 225 F and bake for 20 minutes, uncovered. Next, remove the popcorn from the oven and coat it evenly with the caramel sauce.
Seventh step:
To finish the cooking process, you will need to return the pan to the oven. Keeping cooking for another 20 minutes is a smart choice.
Step 8:
Once you remove the caramel corn from the oven, it should be spread out on a parchment paper or silicone mat as soon as possible.
Step 9:
Allow complete cooling time. Using a knife, cut it into bite-size pieces. Store in an airtight container.
